Auto accident

May 14th was doing a bit of Dog rescue picking up a pitbull puppy to bring to my friend Sandra when a Napa auto parts truck driver fell asleep at the wheel. His truck crossed over into my lane and hit me broadside. I cut my face, suffered a concussion and a moderate back injury. The more severe injury is to my neck which now hurts 24/7. My car was totaled so I'm forced to go out and find another car. Amazing how much your life can change in a split second. I do realize how fortunate I am to be alive.

  1. Oh no very sorry to hear about the accident. Very scary how things can change quickly and are totally out of your control. Hope you heal up okay but sounds like it will take some time.

  2. SO sorry about your accident, especially since it happened when you were trying to do a good deed. It is very frightening when we think about how quickly life can change. I hope that you heal quickly and that the pain disappears very soon. Alternating hot moist towels with almost frozen ones is the only thing that helps when my old neck injury bothers me. So sorry that this happened to you...

  3. Thank you so much Kerri. Good to hear from you. Yes, Ice helps a lot but I'm not doing heat yet as I want to reduce inflammation. I'm in a lot of pain. Let's hope it gets better.

  4. Hi Kenny, Hope you are doing better. I see you haven't posted anything new since the day after the accident. We are new to this blogging thing and like you we have similar goals. We only just started our blog. I'm looking forward to going back and reading up on your past posts. I'm sure you'll have a lot of valuable info we can apply to our efforts.

Again, I hope you are feeling better. Keep us posted!

  5. Hey Kp, thanks for your concern. I'm doing ok, getting around pretty well, but talking to doctors, lawyers and the such is tiring. Anyway, be glad to help you with your project anytime. I'll see if I can find your blog. Thanks for stopping by. Love to talk about vans !

  7. Hey Thanks Greg, Still working thru it. MRI's show a bulging disk in my neck and a torn rotator cuff. Pretty much shot my summer. Im not in that much pain and thankfully am getting good medical care. Hope all is well with you and all my friends on the blog. I so appreciate the comments.

My Van is good. Not much camping this summer but its running strong and I look forward to more adventures.

  8. I feel your pain. In 2010 I was at a 3 way stop on a US highway waiting to make a left turn. I was rear ended by a truck pulling a horse trailer, luckily no horses in the trailer but there was a unsecured concrete machine. Long story short....that truck totaled my car, a pickup and 3 other cars parked at a mini mart. I was the only one in a car and the only injured.

Best advice I can give or at least tell you what took away the pain, was a great physical therapists, after months and months of meds, doctors, chiro's, LMT's.

Not until this past spring did my neck injury flare up with a constant number and sometimes painful right arm. No treatment yet has fixed the problem. Good luck to you and you are right we found out life can be taken away in a matter of seconds.

  9. Hey Thanks BH, So sorry that had to happen to you too. I've made some good gain with my injuries but I still hurt pretty much all the time. I've had a bunch of injections and am a candidate for surgery on my shoulder but not sure about that.

I continue to get treatment and well, I guess like always, just wait to see what happens. Best to you. Kenny
